Well, recently I taught myself how to Contenintal Knit, I am lovin' it, however I am not the best at it, but if I keep trying I think I will get better. I found this "wrap" pattern and had always wanted one, that was my inspiration. I think I started over no less than 7 times, but finally finished it. I will take it to the cleaners and get it cleaned and blocked and it will be ready to wear (now that it is spring) but like I always say, it doesn't have to be perfect, but it does have to be finished!

I got busy yesterday, went to town and bought the backing fabric for this one, dark red,....I was going to purchase another Asian print for the border, then I had an idea to use scraps. I really like the way it turned out. I think I may machine quilt it with a red thread, will just have to see. It's queen size

This top is almost finished. I started it Jan 4th, 2012.....I make it "tube" style. Bonnie Hunter's style. Fun to make for sure. The fabrics are Asian, I have to put a small border on the outside then another larger border, then quilt it.

Baby Quilt....Herd of Elephants

I have a baby shower Friday for a gal at work. Lately I haven't been making baby quits "for everyone I know"......but I have worked with this gal for a long time, I think she is around 38 and her second child. She has decorated the baby's room with elephants, now my understanding is not just elephants, but this particular elephant design. I found the fabric at City Quilter in New York City, well of course, once I found the fabric, I had to make the quilt (lol) and I must say I check to see if they had the fabric, so what was I to do. I recently saw a baby quilt in a magazine that had just been striped, I like the idea andf so here is the results! Baby Quilt "Herd of Elephants" Made totally in one day, cut, sewn and quilted and binding sewn on. I think it's cute....

For some time I have been wanting to replace my two plastic totes with "stuff" in them. Found these darling storage units. Just perfect, now I can "hide" my candy, needles, pens, etc....I am very pleased with my purchase and at 50% off....

Saggy Baggy Elephant baby quilt

This originally was a cloth book. I cut it up and was going to "just" sash it, well when I put the blocks on my design wall the blocks were sorta wonky. I loved the look and went for it. Simply cut strips about 12" and the width of the fabic, sewed down the block squares, didn't piece them. It turned out fun.

Well, I was having an issue, trying to choose fabrics for this block. Lots of leaves, etc. I had put all my Kaffe into a storage box, couldn't see a thing. So Liza suggested I clean that table off and use it. duh. what was I thinking. So got the Kaffe out of the storage box, much easier to work with. I got a log done this afternoon in choosing fabrics. Yeah.

Of course, I don't have enough fabrics to make a top with these fabrics, so off to the fabric shop to purchase complimentary black fabric, more pinks, should work up nicely
here's what my design wall looks like this morning. I am so inspired on the RA block, the birds are so much fun to make. I think this one is going to go quickly. Sorry to say, I am going to concentrate on the RA for awhile (sorry mr, Crazy Quilt) however I probably can't stop working on that either, maybe won't work on Chemo Caps for awhile.

When I quilted the "Paulacasso" I discovered I don't have a "circle" ruler. I found one at Hobby Lobby the other day, I am going to go back and purchase it. Making my own templates for the quilting on this quilt was interesting, it work alright, really.

Today I hope to work on Doll Clothes and finish a couple more baby quilt tops....Football is in full swing. I told David "you know where I'll be" he said "you know where I'll be" lol......I think I could sew for days, hours, weeks, months, years............lovin' it!

Finished...yeah. This is my interpretation of these fabrics. I purchased them at "The Rabbit's Lair" Rogers, Arkansas. I hand quilted it with the long stitches using Pearl Cotton. Love it, just adds so much life to this quilt.

These are "Snap Bags" Fell in love making them. You use a metal tape measure for the snap part, you cut it the length of the top of the bag. Fun to make. Now I have my Christmas Presents for My Co Workers.

My 12 yr old granddaughter, she loves to sew. Last evening she came over and, of course, we had to sew. She said "Nanny, can I sew while I'm here" and I said "of course" so after dinner, we came to the "sewing room".....today's lesson was cutting squares with the roller cutter. We cut squares out of flannel, easy to sew, she sewed and sewed, next time she comes over we will sew the squares together and sandwich and quilt......she is so much fun. I will most likely buy her a sewing machine for Christmas this year....

This is some of the fabrics I purchased at The Rabbit's Lair, Roger, AR. I wanted a yellow baby quilt. Found this pattern on Youtube. It's strip piecedf, sewing a "tube" together, probably one of the quickest quilts I've ever made. I think if I make another, I will use just two fabrics, white and another. Anyway, there are lots of bias on these pieces....but I really didn't find them hard to work with. If you go to Youtube and look for "A Summer in the park" quilt pattern, I believe it will come up. I have a friend, Donna, who quilts professionally, suggested I quilt it in the double ribbon style, as usual I quilted it on my Bernina, not a lot of fabric to work with.

I thought I might machine quilt this quilt, however, Cathy Underhill inspired me with her Pearl Cotton quilting.......my friend Stitchinjoy suggested I use a coral color, bought it yesterday. Thought, it would go pretty quickly, well last night I saw and thought " what pattern do I want to quilt this quilt" decided I wanted circles.....well since I don't (presently) have a circle ruler, I ironed two pieces of Freezer Paper together, drew a large circle with a pot lid, one that fit onto the square the way I wanted, then I took a Protractor and marked circles 1" apart. From there I cut each circle out, put the quilt on my kitchen island and marked the circles....I think I used a Pilot (FriXion) pen....I think I marked about 5 squares, just to see if it what I wanted to do, then put it on my frame, started quilting...husband said "it's different" I told him I am trying to think out of the box.....so far I am pleased with it. It really isn't hard to quilt either.

this is a quilt I made for my friend Cheryl Mason, she will be so surprised. You know I work by inspiration, she just bought some new furniture, found these fabrics thought they would work well
with her color selections. Even tho it doesn't really get cold in SE Texas, everyone needs a cover up now don't they. The pattern Warm Wishes was given to me by my friend Donna, it's really a fun, quick quilt to put together.

Just got back home from "mini" vacation to Texas. I was able to shop at "The Golden Needle" in Japser, Tx. Owner was a great gal, along with her Assistant. If you are in her area I would suggest that you shop there. Here are the fabrics that I purchased there. Will go into a lap quilt. Different for me, but I really like the fabrics. I think I will make a star quilt. Now that I have the RTOK top finished, I need more stars. lol

Baby Quilt

Well, the baby quilt is turning out so cute. I machine qulted it to secure it, now I am going to hand quilt it with varigated pearl cotton thread. I am using the long running quilting stitches, like the gals in Australia. Baptist Fans pattern....I hope to get it finished before Nov, so I can put it into the Creek County Quilt show.

David and I met my dear friend Kathy. She flew in from Dallas, we picked her up at the airport and headed straightway to the Rabbit's Lair Quilt fabric shop. We had a blast 3 hrs to shop and eat lunch, we took her back to the airport at 2:30 ish. What a great time, two kindred spirits. She is a true fiber artist. Here is what I purchased. The top is finished, queen size, 52 "12" blocks, plus 2 borders. should make a nice cover. This quilt is dedicated to my Great Grand Mother Stevens, she is the one who had to throw the quits in the river. I laid the blocks out in a star pattern. My husbands wants the pattern to be called "Road to Texas", so in his honor, that is what I am calling the star pattern, since Texas is The Lone Star State, you know he's a Texan..now to quilt the thing.

First two rows sewn together, coming out quite nice. When I was laying the squares out on my bed to decided the pattern, Charlie Dog decided to sneak in behind my back and rearrange the squares, I walked back into the bedroom and squares were everywhere, he must have done flips on the bed, lol
Anyway, I decided just to gather up the blocks and go for it no rhyme or reason. I think it is turning out just fine, actualy I think the 3 blues set it off.

I just had to post a picture of the top square on my Roseville Album. I am so proud of the chicken and the bird. the green polka dot is another cat, I'm not sure that that fabric will stay. I wanted to prove that between the "TORNADO ALLEY, Crazy Quilt" and the "25 QUILTS THROWN IN THE RIGER, Road to Oklahoma" I am actually working on my RA......yes people, I am living up to my condition

25 Quilts in the River. that's the name of my new quilt. The pattern is a Road to Oklahoma,
my aunt told me a story about how my Great Grandmother came to Oklahoma from Alabama in a covered wagon. She was on a Ferry crossing the river into Oklahoma, when she realized that her team of horses couldn't pull the wagon up the hill once they were on the other side of the river, so she had to throw 25 quilts into the river. She said the Indians came from everywhere to get the quilts out of the river. She said she would have given them the quilts had she known they were watching her and wanted the quilts.....I told my Aunt, well she would be proud of me, I made of for her having to do that. lol. So this quilt is dedicated to Grandma. (this is just the first 4 squares, it will be Queen size)

Just finished this "blanket" project. It was a gal's baby blanket, 32 years old. I put a backing on it, re quilted it, added a new ruffle binding. I think it came out very nicely. I see her at noon to give her it.

so much fun to meet Johna'Lee at the Grove Quilt show yesterday. Wow, I was surprised, she had to come a long way to this show. I looked up and saw the name on her booth, then looked at her work and said "I know this gal".....just a joy to meet her. Purchased the "Whimsy Lane" quilt pattern, she had it made up in a couple ways. Love both of them. Again great fun, and a nice quilt show.
