Sandwiching the "26 Quilts in the River

well, finally got around to sandwiching this Road to Oklahoma top.  I hope to sandwich more today, since I have my cutting table cleaned off.  I will put my Kaffe back up there once these are sandwiched.

almost finished

This little baby quilt is almost finished, just need the binding.  I quilted the main part with Signature thread worked great, then on the outside border I switched to a solid color yellow Coats & Clark, worked awful, had to rip out the whole quilting on the outside border.  I THREW THE SPOOK OF C & C AWAY....you talk about aggrivating.  Pulled out a spook of the wonderful thread I purchased from Connecting Thread's, now I only have to sew the binding on, maybe today.

This was a panel I bought somewhere, cut it apart, sashed it and this is what came out.  Cute baby quilt!

I hope to sandwich another top today, trying to get these tops quilted.  I love to say "IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE PERFECT, BUT IT DOES HAVE TO BE FINISHED"

Builder Bob Baby Quilt

Well, finished this one today.  I had purchased a cloth book fabric, I believe from a quilt fabric shop in McAlister, OK some time back, maybe even a couple years ago.  Anyway, The sashing fabric, I bought it in a box of fabric at a garage sale, there was enough to sash this and back the quilt.  I decided to combine the two and this is what I came up with.  Turned out cute.  This quilt is going to a baby of a fellow I work with, their second child.  Tyler White, his Dad, Matt can repair anything, so I am sure they will enjoy this one.

Little Pillow

Here is a little pillow I made, bought the pattern at the Grove, OK Quilt show last summer from a vendor "SON SHINE SEED CO" designed by Connie Sherlock Independence, KS 620-331-7814.I hand embroideried it and used crayola's for the color.  I am going to give this to a friend of mine for her birthday, hope she likes it.

I've been quilting on the TATW I use my BabyLock Quilter's Choice Professional,  I have been having trouble with the screw on my Tension coming loose, so I have to check it often.  It's turning out really well, lots of fabric to move around, but it is possible.

Log Cabin Quilt with Crochet cover on end of bed

It took me 3 years to crochet this spread.  I was looking in a magazine one day and saw a Log Cabin quilt on a bed and it had a crochet spread on the end of the bed.  I said "I gotta have it" at that time I was already making the crochet spread (took me 3 years) and I made 3 Log Cabin tops in 2 days on my Serger.  Machine quilted all 3.....needless to say this is the results

I've been busy

I took the day off from work.  I was able to sandwich the Trip To Hong Kong, started quilting this afternoon.  I have about 1/8th of it quilted, I got my "super sewing machine" out, it really sews quickly, lovin' it.  I had to have the Tension replaced on it a couple months ago, now it is really running well.
I will have this large quilt quilted in no time.

The rest of the story

The Pink Rose of Sharon... long story.  When our son and daughter in law decided to move back to Tulsa from Nashville, she came to town to look at houses and rather that stay with family, she decided to stay at a lady's house who had offered for her to stay there while she was gone, that way she would have the whole house to herself and Luke.  I went to see her, we walked into a bedroom where her things were, she had her suitcase and other items laying on the bed, under all her stuff was a quilt covering the bed.  An Antique Pink Rose of Sharon quilt.   I told her, you might want to move your things, I believe that is an Antique quilt......after she returned to Nashville, I called the lady who owned the house/quilt.  Told her I would love to copy the pattern, she said "sure, come and get the quilt, you can keep it as long as  you like for the pattern"  I went immediately and borrowed the qult, took pictures, drew patterns, got the quilt back to her quickly.  The story behind the quilt was "her aunt gave her the quilt in the early 1950's, the quilter lived in Kansas and it was an original design.

As I got to putting the top together after I appliqued all the rose squares, I discovered the quilt needed another row of roses for it to turnout right,  So I added a row and adjusted the border to accomidate.

I made this top a long time ago, probably 10 years ago, I have it 1/4 quilted, when I saw the quilt that was posted on "Inspired By Antique Quilts" blog, I thought about this one and pulled it out, it is not on my quilting frame, gotta finish this one.  I have to locate the ruler that I was using to mark the crosshatch lines, I think they are 3/4".....
