Pink Rose of Sharon Sampler quilted by hand "Quilt as You Go" Method

getting it together

well, I almost have this quilt finished.  Quilting by the square (I love this method)  I did the squares in 3 panels.  I will machine quilt the dark pink batik with a clear momofilament thread before I sew the sashing on them, joining the quilt.  Then all I lack is the outside border and binding, how cool is that.  This is a great method for people who want to machine quilt their quilt and not have to move all that fabric around.  I will definitely make more using this method.

I made a "hand quilted" quilt as you go quilt a few years back.  I'll take a picture for my blog.  I loved that too.....

Shopped today at "Owl & Drum" quilt fabric shop in Tulsa....15th & Delaware

Orange Peel.....

I bought all this wonderful fabric and thought about making a Cathedral Window,  uh NO...then came up with the idea for an Orange Peel.  Here is my process.

I used Heat N Bond Lite...fused the fabrics, then cut the pieces out.  The background is a Moda Fabric....Black to light...I cut the squares, wish I had left it as one piece, but oh well.....then went for it.   I  ironed the pieces down, and sandwiched with a light poly batting.  Hand stitching the Peels down with Pearl Cotton Thread.  The size is 30 X 36....I'm almost finished qulting it.  Fun project
